Weekly Chronicle #3: Wordly Inspired

No word ditty this week. I heard something on “The Writer’s Almanac” that completely encompasses how I have felt all week: Thankful.

What Have I Got to Complain About

By David Budbill

We’ve got enough money now not to worry every minute
about where the next dollar is coming from.
We even go to the movies once in a while.
We’ve got a nice collection of friends.
Our house is sturdy and well built.
It keeps us warm and stands well against the storms.
The larder is full of rice.
There are plenty of potatoes down cellar.
The freezer is full of vegetables I grew myself.

In the face of all that, slights to my vanity
seem frivolous and nonsensical.

What have I got to complain about?

Happy weekend everyone. 🙂

LOVE this. whenever gerren and i are stressed and upset about how we “have nothing” i try to tell myself, we have a house, with TWO bedrooms. we have (overpriced!) heat. we are married. we have good health. our fridge is usually full. we are lucky.”ReplyCancel

Isn’t that the truth Shauni. We are lucky…and yet worry has a way of sneaking up and ambushing us! Then we just need to remember what we do have and now focus on what we don’t.

Thanks Kelly 🙂 I think it looks pretty good too. 🙂ReplyCancel
