Thank Heaven for Little Boys!

Life is really full of surprises. 🙂

October 2nd was my birthday and I was 33 weeks +2 days pregnant with our first child. I had ideas and visions of what maternity photos I wanted to get, but had yet to do them. On the 2nd, it was a beautiful Autumn day and the foliage was just amazing! Plus my mum had knitted me this adorable “Bump Sweater” as a birthday gift and I was excited to get some photos with it. However, I was feeling super tired and had a lot of work to get done so I told Devin that we could wait and do some belly photos next week. I was not even 34 weeks yet and normally with my own maternity clients, we wait until around 34 or 35 weeks to do a session! 🙂  Luckily he talked me into doing some photos on October 2nd because on October 7th at 34 weeks on the dot our son Brennan Julius decided to arrive 6 weeks before his estimated due date. Life is full of surprises. 🙂

After just under 2 very busy weeks of going back and forth to the hospital and NICU, we were able to bring our son home. 🙂  He truly has interwined himself within our hearts, souls and life together. I never thought I would love someone more than I love Devin, but now I must admit that I have truly fallen in love with another boy. 😉 His little going home outfit says, “Thank Heaven for Little Boys” across the front. 🙂 I couldn’t agree more!

Due to his unexpected early arrival, things on the blog will be a little slower to update. Initially I had planned to take  the month of October and pre-post all of the features and posts that would cover my maternity leave in mid-November, however…best laid plans! 🙂 Bear with us as we adjust to parenthood earlier than expected and enjoy these bonus 6 weeks we have been gifted with our little boy! 🙂 I am still available via email ( for questions and inquiries. Thank you for ALL of the well wishes and congratulations that have been showered on us! We truly have a very broad community of support. 🙂 be well, Kathleen

hi Kathleen, congratulations on your miracle, the end of your pregnancy was similar to mine with Hunter. He was born 7 weeks early and spent 1week in the NICU before we took him home. He was 4lbs 11oz and quite healthy. I’m told that a premie born that early would usually spend the full term in the hospital and Hunter remarkably, amazed us with how healthy he was. We traveled back and forth to the hospital to be with him like you. God bless and enjoy every bit of that precious boy.
