Katya & Nick’s Cabot, Vermont Wedding

Katya & Nick were married on one of those “iffy Vermont weather” kind of days. Some mean cloud cover was rolling over the mountains and plains, but so far…things were still iffy. One thing that was quite certain though was the joy and excitement that filled Nick’s parent’s home on the Cabot Plains. When Robert and I arrived, last minute yard detail was underway with Nick joining in on raking stray grass (hay?) from the field paths! Katya, her mom, and sister were squirreled away in the “bride’s room” transforming Katya into a beautiful bride. And so while the weather taunted us with strips of sunshine and ever present dark clouds, the excitement grew. IF it rained and IF it didn’t, things were going to be perfect because it was Katya & Nick’s wedding day. 🙂

Katya & Nick opted for a First Look before the ceremony and although we did not do many pictures prior, they still enjoyed a sweet moment together before walking into the ceremony. 🙂

Can you guess what is going on here? 🙂 It’s a pretty typical occurrence during a wedding day. 🙂

Nick’s Dad brought out his beautiful 1960 Austin Healey for the portraits. 🙂 A great touch!

Nick’s sister, Katie, and her musician friends (Mayfly band) provided music for the cocktail hour. It was wonderful!

Cake by Mirabelles. 🙂

Let’s Pretend did all of the catering for the evening. 🙂

Fire & Metal Goldsmith custom made Katya & Nick’s wedding bands. There were pounded gold. So pretty!

When Katya & Nick initially contacted me they were very keen on capturing a sunset portrait. If it didn’t happen on the day of the wedding, we had plans that I would come back and we would reenact it when the weather cooperated. 🙂 Having grown up on Cabot Plains, the gorgeous sunsets were a big part of Nick’s life. With the iffy weather all day I was worried we may not get our sunset, but then Robert popped into the tent and showed me this image. Ahhhh!!! SUNSET!

Out we went!

For all you photographer types out there you might wonder if I used any filters on these images or the camera to boost the color saturation. Nope! This is all just good old fashioned nature at work with a light modifier off to the left of the camera. Ahhh-mazing

It was magnificent. 🙂

Congratulations Nick & Katya! What a wonderful day to start your married life with. 🙂 And I am SO glad to have been a part of it!
